TIPO Revises Trademark Application Fees

by Jesimy Yu

The Taiwan Intellectual Property Office has recently announced revisions for trademark application filing fees for all classes.
Effective 1 February 2011, the filing fee for up to 20 designated goods in Classes 1-34 will be NTD 3,000 for each class, plus an additional NTD 200 for each additional item per class.

The filing fee structure for Classes 1-34 was previously NTD 3,000 for one to 20 designated goods in each class, NTD 5,000 for 21-60 designated goods in each class, and NTD 9,000 for 61 or more designated goods.

For Classes 35-45, the fee remains at NTD 3,000 per class regardless of the number of designated services. There will be a new, NTD 500 surcharge, however, for each additional item placed under the “Retail” scope in Class 35.
