Gregory A. Buxton

Greg heads our Corporate Transactional Practice. His practice spans capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital investments, corporate restructurings, and a variety of other general corporate transactions.

Greg began his legal career in New York with Brown & Wood assisting global investment banks execute public and private offerings of debt and equity securities in the United States and abroad.  While in New York, he also participated in the structuring and offering of retail derivative products for Merrill Lynch.  Greg continued his capital practice markets practice in Hong Kong with Sidley Austin.

More recently, Greg has focused his practice on mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments in Greater China.  Greg has helped multinational clients from a wide range of industries purchase companies and assets throughout the region.   He has also structured and executed private equity investments for both local and foreign clients, assisting these clients with all stages of the investment process from initial corporate structuring and tax planning through to deal term and agreement negotiation, and transaction closing.

While not Greg’s primary practice focus, he has experience in commercial lending arrangements, including the purchase and sale of non-performing secured loan portfolios.

In addition to his legal accomplishments, Greg has significant international business experience.  Greg began his professional career as a management consultant in Taiwan.  He also co-founded and managed, Asiad, a boutique investment company focused on online technology startups in Asia.

Greg is a member of the New York Bar.  He has a B.A. from Harvard College and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, and speaks English and Mandarin Chinese.  He is active in the Harvard Club of Taiwan and maintains a board seat at Asiad. Greg is also registered as an Attorney of Foreign Legal Affairs with Taiwan’s Ministry of Justice.
